Having the POWER of ENDURANCE may seem unattainable when you think about the challenges you've faced in life. Whenever I think of superpowers, I immediately recall the superheroes I watched on TV as a child, like the Six Million Dollar Man, the Man from Atlantis, Superman, Spiderman, Batman and Robin, among others. These heroes had unique powers activated by instant fixers! Imagine how incredible it would be if we could have those instant fixers ourselves?
As a woman of faith, I consider God to be my greatest 'superhero'. He created this world from nothing, simply by breathing life into it, forming the earth, land, and sea, and in seven days, the world was revealed, turning darkness into light. I am certain that God is with me every moment, regardless of what I face; He is always by my side.
How can you OVERCOME challenges that seem too difficult to manage?
To OVERCOME means to succeed in dealing with or controlling a problem that has been preventing you from achieving something. By maintaining persistence and endurance, you will eventually gain control over your situation and reach the end.
I plan to share 5 POWS over the next week. These are “power tools” that have guided me through many challenges in life and I hope they will encourage you to push through the challenges you are facing today.
POW #1: PRAYER

POWER in PRAYER - My husband and I owned a clothing business for the voluptuous men/women called Clothing Oasis Limited based in West Auckland back in 2005. We started well considering the lack of business experience, but we were determined to make it work. By 2007, only 2 years into the business recession hit Aotearoa and we were devastated by the difficult changes. We faced huge challenges, lack of sales, no customers, creditors, and my energy to retail was weighing me down. I hit rock bottom, and I felt like a failure.
One particular day, I found myself sitting in my car, overwhelmed with tears. I called my husband to tell him I didn't want to go to work. Anxiety took such a strong hold on me that I drove to Pt Chevalier Beach and stood at the edge of the cliff. I felt disconnected from myself and unsure of how to manage. It seemed as though I stood there for hours. What do you do when things have caved in? My husband and I sat on a nearby bench and allowed the tears to flow. An overwhelming feeling to just PRAY!

The Spiritual force that comes from what you PRAY is an EXPRESSION of ACTION and sometimes, you will find yourself helpless to God’s timing; It's about waiting to see when and what positive results will arise from the challenges you face. As you let God work in your situation, observe what He will accomplish as you obediently wait on Him! His timing is Perfect!
What came from that prayer was an overwhelming sense of support, direction and decision that saw us strategically plan the closing of our business. We literally walked away with no debt; the creditors allowed us to return all the stock with no cost; the landlord closed our lease immediately; we walked away with our heads held high and our lives overwhelmed by the answered prayer.
There is POWER in PRAYER!
